Parkour Friends!

Wednesday, July 23rd, 2008

I spent Tuesday downtown, mostly for an urban hike.

I first visited Fischer at his new job. Think swanky conference rooms/lobbies/people. Those ones you’ve really only have seen in movies. Yeah, it’s that. Congrats, Fischer. Oh, and his cubicle overlooks the Chicago River…and his chair costs $1200.

I continue on with a rough destination of Grant Park. I found a sweet jumping spot a little to the North of it. However, I spent myself a bit too early. I did a lot of successive, long jumps which taxed my legs. At Grant Park, there was an outdoor concert going on. A security guard motioned that I shouldn’t be sitting on that high ledge…

Then, I saw the Bean for the first time, and people watched around Grant Park. I was near the Art Museum when I jumped up onto a ledge, CRAMP!!!!!! And I was adequately hydrated…So, the rest of the trip was a bit more relaxing. More hiking, than jumping.

I got onto the Red Line and caught the sox game. 3/4 of the way through the game, I get up to get Nachos! Seconds later, I get a text from Courtney Compton: Take that hat off, you silly bitch. Courtney Compton, Ali Hayes, Kathleen Odonnell , and Bill/Pete Moritz were seeing the game 30 ft. away!

Later, I had to wait 30 minutes back at the LaSalle Train Station for the 11:05 train home. I was walking on the benches to the west of the station. I was just about to start to go to the train, when I look up at the stairs. Two guys are jumping the rails down the stairs…Hmm…And they aren’t stopping. The maneuvers aren’t hard at all, but they seem to be doing things on purpose…Fellow Parkourers!?

I watch for a bit before going up to them and asking if they are just fooling around or do they do this regularly. They do it regularly, and they were downtown just for it…just like me! Turns out also that they live in the Orland/Tinley Area also. (One works at Jamba Juice…) We swapped stories, and parkour spots. If I don’t have to work on Friday, I may meet up with them…we exchanged emails…

I have Parkour Friends!

Nintendo’s E3 Conference

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

This is the time of year when tons of new info is released on the upcoming year’s games. It’s exciting for gamers and usually filled with “OMG” moments. For the past few years, I’ve streamed it live online, while in a chatroom, as all the interneters whine and cheer.

So, Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo all had their news conference detailing what they will have to show us in the next three days of the conference. It’s also a big thing for interneters to decide for themselves who WON this year. Sadly, Nintendo sucked…atleast from the view of a “Hardcore Gamer.” They showed almost nothing that interests me.

Microsoft won, in terms of getting their fans excited enough for upcoming games or even convincing people to buy the XBOX 360.

So, the bigger reason for my post is how much I love interneters. The hidden language and straight to the pointness of them is very funny to me. One presenter from Sony was maybe slightly overweight and everyone was referring to him as Fatty and said he needed to play WiiFit. And a Nintendo presenter that can only be described as momish was very annoying. Everyone was asking for mercy to make it stop! And one person told her to “TAKE IT OFF.”

Love it or hate it, it’s unbridled judgement, visceral humanity.

But I want to present to you some .gifs that I saw on a message board. These .gifs are used often to give a visual representation of how they are feeling. They are repeating animated sequences that display emotion. (WARNING, they may take a bit of time to load properly.)

First, are two that happened today. (FOR THE ONES THAT AREN’T ANIMATED, CLICK ON THEM TO SEE THEM)

Next, is a range of things to describe how the fans feel about the conference:

I love the Mission Impossible one!

This one is used more for MEGATONS…which are mostly good, new, and startling information.

Late Nite Films

Monday, July 7th, 2008

I was browsing the Cinemax channel guide tonight to look for movies I’d like to DVR. Browsing at this time of night, you’ll see a lot of pr0n. (Internet slang for porn) Here is the title of one of them that really made me laugh:

Alien Sex Files 3: Aliens/Wild

Beside the fact that this movie is the final part of a trilogy, the part I love the most is how they use the slash. Aliens/Wild. The use of the slash usually replaces the word “OR.”

Alien Sex Files 3: Aliens or Wild.

(Oh, blast it. I was looking for a screenshot to add into my post, and I found that the title that I saw was truncated. It’s really Alien Sex Files 3: Aliens Gone Wild, which makes total sense now. The logline is: Lusty extraterrestrials explore human sexuality.)

I bet if I’d watch this, it’d really get me blast off.

I’m….

I’m so “off the track.” Where will I go?

The Website Is Down…

Friday, July 4th, 2008

This video is very techy. Fischer may be the only one that enjoys it, but perhaps some others might too.

I’m not sure if it’s real. The voices are high pitched to hide the identities of the people involved.

Gorney is The confused.

Friday, July 4th, 2008

I saw Gorney today, and he mentioned that he was impressed with my climbing feat. You can read about it two posts down entitled Kankakee River State Park.

But I guess he didn’t read it all too well and is insane.

HE THOUGHT THAT THE LITTLE WHITE DOT ON THE FIRST PICTURE OF THAT POST WAS ME.

Holy Shit! I’m awesome. Look at the photo as if I’m the white dot. . .
